Cake Batter Bars

Our year long pilot training adventure is coming to a close and many of our friends are moving away. Tonight, we went to a BBQ for one of our friends who is moving to Florida the day after graduation, this coming weekend. We were all asked to bring a dessert so I decided to try something new and made these cake batter bars. They are delicious and gooey!

1 1/4 cup white cake mix
3/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup butter, melted slightly
1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
Small container of multicolored sprinkles

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 by 9 baking pan with Crisco.

2. In a mixing bowl, beat sugars, butter, vanilla, egg and egg yolk until creamy and combined.

3. In a separate bowl, combine cake mix, flour and baking soda. Gradually add flour mixture into butter/egg mixture. Mix until just combined. Stir in sprinkles.

4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned and somewhat jiggly in the middle. Cool in pan completely before cutting.
