Fleece Boa Scarf

As the temperatures start to drop and those football games are getting cold to attend, make yourself a fleece boa scarf with your favorite (team) colors!

1. Pick out 2-3 colors of fleece. I got 2/3 yd of each color and it made 3 scarfs.
2. Cut strips that are five inches wide and as long as you want them to hang on you.
3. Place the strips on top of each other and sew down the middle using a coordinating thread color.
4. Cut down the scarf in one inch sections to create fringe. Do not cut all the way to the sewn line.

5. Shake it out, ruffle it up and wear it!!

Fabric Wall Art

A few weeks ago, the quilting store in Hennessey had a massive fat quarter sale. All fat quarters for only $1.49! It was a huge ordeal and since I was itching to get some new fabric, I arrived at the store right when it opened at 9am, only to find out that the doors must have opened a bit sooner. The store was packed with women filling up their baskets full of fat quarters. I started out without a basket but soon learned that that wasn't going to work as I wandered around the store. 45 fat quarter later, I was out the door and headed home. I picked up these black and white fat quarters with the intention of making them into wall art. I'd seen a bunch of different ideas and wanted to create my own art for our living room.

I picked up ten 8 by 10 canvas at Hobby Lobby for $3.99/2 plus 40% off. It was a great deal. Using spray adhesive, I sprayed the fabric onto the canvas. Since I bought the fabric for the sole purpose of using them as wall art, I cut down the fabric about 2 inches bigger than the canvas on each side. Then I folded and secured in the sides with spray adhesive and finished the canvas off by wrapping the fabric on the top/bottom like a present and spraying it in place. Since I only wanted to use 9 pieces, I chose one fabric for the center and used the other fabrics twice.

Yesterday, while S was at work, I got out the hammer and wall hanging nails and got to work, putting up the art in our living room. I just love the way that it looks! My table no longer looks like that as I have added some pieces which you will be seeing in future posts!

This was such a simple project and adds a lot to our living room. My goal is to have a black and red living room by the end of all my future living room decorating plans and this was the perfect start and I can see that things are really coming together, just the way that I wanted them to.
